Geneva, Switzerland (AHN) - More than 77,000 cases of swine flu have been reported worldwide with more than 300 deaths, the World Health Organization reported Wednesday.
Some 77,201 persons have been confirmed as being sickened by the H1N1 virus, while 332 have died from its complications, according to WHO.
Nearly a third of the reported cases, 27717, have occurred in the United States, but many of the latest 6,300 cases came from Chile and the United Kingdom. Since the previous report on Monday, Chile reported 1,025 new cases, including five deaths. Some 2,288 Britons have fallen ill, resulting in two deaths.
WHO declared the spread of the H1N1 flu to have reached pandemic levels on June 11.
