Nepal Confirms 2 More Cases Of Swine Flu, Total Now 5

Kathmandu, Nepal (AHN) - Nepal confirmed two more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Thursday, taking the total cases to five, health officials said.

The same family's 5-year-old son and their relative's 17-month-old daughter were tested and it the Influenza A (H1N1) virus was confirmed in the blood samples, the head of the country's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research under the Health Ministry, Senendra Raj Upreti, reportedly confirmed.

The newly-diagnosed people were apparently staying near the United States- based non-resident Nepali couple and their 8-year old son who were diagnosed on Sunday. They came to Nepal via Doha from the US.

According to reports, Dr. Uoreti said the people were now under treatment with special attention.

Nepal government officials have already issued an alert to over 40 Rapid Response Teams and stationed a team of health professionals at Tribhuvan International Airport. It has also stepped up vigilance for symptoms of the flu at border points.
