Canadian Health Officials Admit H1N1 Vaccine Supply Not Enough To Immunize All Residents

Ottawa, Ontario (AHN) - Canadian health officials admitted they do not have enough stock of Influenza A (H1N10 vaccine to immunize all residents. Chief Public Health Officer Dr. David Butler-Jones said they could only inoculate 60 to 75 percent of Canada's population by Christmas.

He estimated is all 33 million Canadians get vaccinated it would take them until January. So far 11 million doses have been distributed by Ottawa to provinces, but Health Canada's total order from GlaxoSmithKline is 50.4 million doses.

Following the release of more H1N1 vaccines, the Saskatoon Health Region widened its H1N1 vaccination priority list to include students from grades 7 to 12.

Last week Health Canada approved the Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Pandemic Monovalent Vaccine (Without Adjuvant) made by GlaxoSmithKline.
